COLUMBIA-BRAZORIA ISD CONTINUES ENERGY EFFICIENCY SUCCESS

Awarded $5,713 Incentive from TNMP"s SCORE Program

WEST COLUMBIA, Texas, DATE, 2014 - Columbia-Brazoria ISD was awarded a $5,713 cash incentive from the TNMP SCORE Program for roofing retrofits and an air cooled chiller upgrade project. The energy-saving measures were completed at two elementary schools and a high school cafeteria.

The SCORE Program helps schools save energy and money by providing no-cost facility improvement recommendations and financial incentives based on the total amount of energy the district will save. The new roofing and air cooled chiller will provide big energy savings for the school district.

"TNMP"s SCORE Program provides essential technical and financial resources to help our district improve energy management," said Scott Williams, Director of Maintenance. "Our energy savings will allow us to maintain our staff, as well as afford additional improvements."

Specifically, the energy efficiency improvements will save 31,891 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, equal to the carbon dioxide emissions from 2,522 gallons of gasoline, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency calculations. "We"re proud to serve as an energy-efficient role model in the community," said Williams.

"We identified a real need for an energy efficiency program that specifically targets schools in our service area, especially as budgets are spread thin," said Stefani Case, Energy Efficiency Project Manager. "This program is only part of an organized effort to bring needed energy efficiency to Texas."
